Welcome to my fundraising page! The 5KforJK is a local fundraising campaign, with the mission to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson's. Since 2021, 5KforJK has been more than a walk, it’s a movement led by folks who deal with Parkinson's each day; seeking to replace fear with truth. Based in Columbus, we’re helping people with Parkinson’s feel seen, supported, and empowered through free kits, local exercise programs, and The Secret Life of Parkinson’s podcast.
The 5KforJK means so much to me because the work they are doing is making a difference in how people with Parkinson's feel and how they live their lives each day. Including mine. As some know, back in the fall of 2021 I was diagnosed as having Parkinson's. For those of you who didn't know, this is my "coming out" notice. Since my diagnosis I've learned a lot about this neurological disease; specifically, that there is no cure. Many good folks are working on that. The other thing I've learned is that you can slow the progression of Parkingson's with exercise. So.... believe it or not, I am exercising. I do so at least four days a week and attend several classes designed for people with Parkinson's, including one that is boxing! And I feel pretty good because of my participation!
We need your support! The dollars I raise will support expansion of local exercise programs for folks with Parkinsons. I've seen first hand the impact exercise has. The 5KforJK 5th annual walk/run will be held again at Olentangy Liberty Middle School Track at Liberty Middle School in Powell, OH on Sunday, September 14, 2025. Please consider donating to my fundraising page and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance the 5KforJK's great cause! Additionally, if you are interested in participating in the walk/run, you can click here to register for the event.
Together, we can make a difference!
