Four years ago Gina called me about an article she had seen in the Powell news. It was an article about Jessica Krouser who was diagnosed with early onset Parkinson’s disease. They were holding a 5K for her…it was the first ever 5KforJK, in October 2020. So Gina, Jamo, Jim and I all registered. Jamo won a silent auction item and won a bunch of new friends. I was especially happy to meet Melissa Carlson owner of pdnext step, a gym that is for people with Parkinson’s. I met Melissa at the gym that next week and joined that day, the gym has become a life saver for me. Notbonlyby providing me with an excellent workout place, but also by providing me with some of the best friends I have ever had.

I was diagnosed with Parkinson’s,in 2019 and the 5kforjk has been a life saver for me. 5KforJK is a non-profit organization, which has a mission to improve the lives of those living with Parkinson's. Donations from last year allowed the team to build and distribute over 700 Parkinson's kits, support multiple Parkinson's exercise classes, and contribute to the Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research. The 5KforJK means so much to me because the work they are doing is making a difference in how people with Parkinson's feel and how they live their lives today including mine.
To maintain and expand those programs, we need your support! The 5KforJK 4th annual walk/run will be held again at Liberty Middle School in Powell, OH on Sunday, September 15, 2024. Please consider donating to my fundraising page and sharing this page with your family and friends. Every dollar I raise will advance the 5KforJK's great cause!
